Montessori (pronounced MON-tuh-SORE-ee) is a comprehensive educational approach from birth to adulthood based on the observation of children's needs in a variety of cultures all around the world.
Beginning her work almost a century ago, Dr. Maria Montessori developed this educational approach based on her understanding of children's natural learning tendencies as they unfold in "prepared environments" for multi-age groups (0-3, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12, and 12-14).
My daughter started in the primary program when she was 2 1/2 years old and we just finished our first school year with Fiore. My daughter has learned so much, made friends and she loves going to school. Fiore offers the children a variety of stimulating activities and really focuses on their development. Check out the classrooms to see what I mean. The children play outside every day in the huge backyard. I haven't seen a school in this area that offers such a large space for the children to play. Most of all, I've been impressed with the staff at Fiore. They are kind, patient and caring, but also really passionate about what they do.Thanks Fiore for a great first year. We look forward to returning next year.
Our daughter has been in the "MyHome at Fiore" program since mid 2014. Our experience here has been phenomenal. The teachers are very well trained. They really love what they do and are responsive to feedback. The owners are very passionate about the Montessori teaching philosophy and their dedication to the program is apparent through frequent interactions, special programs offered for parents and the way they run the school. The entire Fiore staff is very caring and attentive to the extent that's possible. The classrooms are very detailed oriented incorporating the best quality materials. The school offers healthy snacks and follows a philosophy that helps keep distractions at bay. The kids learn to focus on a multitude of skills through carefully prepared classroom activities. The outdoor space is great and during the summer months, the kids have the option of doing their work outside on the patio. We are ...
I heard about the Montessori philosophy through a friend for the first time when my son was 2 years old. I decided to research both regular schools and montessori schools when it was time . Montessori really put an emphasis on teaching children how to think and that is what I wanted for my child. I want him to learn how to think and not how to memorize. My son has been enrolled at Fiore Montessori since September and I have seen a huge transformation in his thought process and creativity. Montessori has taught him to embrace his creativity which I believe is a key to success in the future. However, not all Montessori schools are created equal. We sent our son to Fiore because of its diverse staff and student body and its outdoor facilities which is designed to teach children to learn and appreciate nature. I would recommend Fiore Montessori to any parents who want to send their children there.
Fiore Montessori is really a gem of a school. Although only a few years old, it has already earned AMI accreditation, which is a testament to the hard work of its founders and teachers. It is a true Montessori school, yet it is in no way rigid or old-fashioned. The direction goes out of its way to involve parents and to accommodate them as much as possible. I have had very positive interactions with teachers at both the toddler and primary level, as well as with the office personnel. My son has learned a great amount in the year that he has attended Fiore, and I know he loves his teachers as well as his classmates. I look forward to sending him to Fiore for many more years.
Our son has been in the “My home at Fiore” program since it started last year. This program is designed to accommodate the schedules of busy working parents, with early drop-off and late pick-up times. We are very happy with the progress our son has made there, and he is excited to go to school and interact with his friends. They have healthy snacks in the morning and afternoon and they spend a lot of time outdoors. They care for plants and the environment – our son very proudly told us how he ate tomatoes that they’ve grown and picked themselves. The teachers are very warm and make sure the parents are given full reports about how kids spent their days. There are kids of different ages in this program and the older children are true role models for the younger ones. My son was glowing after he was allowed to “give a lesson” to a younger child, while the younger kids benefit from having peers with a little bit more “experience”. They do “work” every day, and it is incredible how ...
